Commissioners and staff trained on International and Regional Human Rights Mechanism

In collaboration with the Commission, the Office of the High Commissioner of Human Rights in Rwanda organized a four-day training workshop that brought together the Commissioners and staff of the Commission, on International and Regional Human Rights Protection Mechanisms.

The training workshop aimed at contributing to the increase of knowledge and skills of the staff on international and regional mechanisms, to contribute to the enhancement of NCHR engagement with the International and Regional Human Rights Protection Mechanisms and to increase the productivity and performance of members of the Commission and its staff.

The training workshop was not only to increase knowledge and skills of the Commissioners and staff on International and Regional Protection Mechanisms but also a great opportunity for self-evaluation of the existing collaboration between the Commission and both International and Regional Mechanism.

International and Regional Human Rights Mechanisms play a significant role in protecting human rights among member States, including by deciding States’ responsibility for violations alleged in complaints submitted by individuals.

The sessions engaged the participants on discussions around the International and Regional Human Rights Protection Mechanisms and the core international human rights instruments.

The experiences and expertise acquired in the training workshop are very important and will help the Commission to improve and strengthen its engagement with International and Regional Human Rights Mechanism.

The Commission is committed to continue to collaborate with Government and International and Regional Mechanism to ensure the promotion and the protection of human rights.
